The 2019 Black Creators Forum will run October 31st - November 1st during the Indie Memphis Film Festival, and is a two-day symposium of workshops and invited speakers led by notable black filmmakers and critics. The goal is to explore new ways black filmmakers can find creativity and sustainability, and to ease the barrier of entry for black artists who would like to work in film.
Last year's event included panels such as Black Sexuality on Screen, Activism or Art?, Black Cinephilia & Cinephobia, and International Black Cinema. Also featured was a keynote address by activist and director of SORRY TO BOTHER YOU, Boots Riley; as well as our inaugural Black Filmmakers Pitch Rally -- featuring 12 filmmakers from Memphis and around the world pitching feature films to shoot in Memphis.
