This grant provides professional filmmaking services to one student between grades 7-12 to direct their next short film! The package is good for a 1 day short film shoot with support and crew positions filled by working professionals from Memphis-based production company, VIA Productions.

What exactly are filmmaking services?
A team of professional crew members that are excited to bring your film to life
Cool, fancy film equipment like cameras, lenses, lights, dollies, & more (handled by the team of professional crew members)
Meals and snacks (aka Craft Services) for your cast & crew
Scheduling of the shoot, budgeting, location services, and much more
Not sure where to start?
The little voice inside your head saying it’s too much to worry about, well…now you don't have to - all you need to do is be unequivocally creative, to put your story into the universe - we take care of the rest…
Keep it simple! This will enhance your creativity and make your film more attractive to the selection jury.
We encourage you to include any friends in some assistant crew roles. They’ll have a chance to work alongside professionals that are kind and eager to include them.
What do I need to do to apply?
Be a student in Memphis or any surrounding counties between grades 7&12
Submit an original script - 5 pages MAXIMUM. 4 characters or less and all in one central location. This grant provides for a one day shoot, so keep your script short and tight.

Three friends are terrorized by a malicious, young trick or treater during their Christmas party on Halloween night.

Andrew Green has participated in Indie Memphis Youth events since 2018 with two of his short films screening at the Youth Film Fest in 2021 and 2022. The 2022 short film, 'Little Wise Guys', was a collaboration between Andrew, 2021 Indie Memphis Youth Grant recipient Graham Whitworth, Audience Award winner Georgia Carls, and Youth Spirit Award winner Ethan Torres. The film received audience praise and was an official selection of the Student and Young Artists Festival, Lift-Off Sessions 2023 @ Pinewood Studios, and the SATX Cinema Showdown.
